summer reading has inspired me to write a little something

I am on this total nautical trip, with having just read for the first time Huckelberry Finn, Kidnapped, and now the Heart of Darkness. I can't get enough of reading Twain I was captured by they way he describes the Mississippi and its inhabitants and Hucks relationship with Jim. Conrad: I started that story many times, and I finally have the attention span for it, and I am blown away. I always heard what a wit Twain was but not Conrad. He is like a jaded war correspondent. It is like the part in Kidnapped when David the protagonist ask the doctor why he is on such a disreputable ship, and he says, "no story just the fun of it." That is life on the ocean for you. Keep in mind I hate riding in boats, and would never entertain the idea of sailing. I am a land lubber, and in fact crave the desert. But these sailors are exciting beings.
